5 out of 5 stars Great Printer   July 24, 2010

For the price, this printer is awesome. The built in wireless networking could easily have made this unit a couple hundred dollars more expensive, but this thing is cheap! The "easy" set up didn't work out too well for me, so I had to do it manually, but that wasn't very difficult to do. If you are using any sort of encryption, mac filtering, or SSID hiding, the easy set up isn't for you. Overall, this thing is great for the cheap price and I'd definitely purchase one again should the need arise.

1 out of 5 stars Big Waste of Money   July 24, 2010

I have this printer at work. So do four other people in the office. It was time to replace the old printers, and this was the least expensive that we could get. It is very noisy (don't try to print anything while you are on the phone). It's really good at handling the paper. rarely has paper jams. The quality of the printouts is great. The major problems we all have are with the toner and drum. Both are required and are around 50+ a pop. The printer will show a light telling you the toner is going. That's a good thing. But will continue to print very clearly. Then one day when you really need to print something, it just stops. Then you sit an realize that the light had been on since you installed the new toner and you only got to use the toner for about a week. Same deal with the drum. The thing with the drum is that even when you go out spend the $55 on it and replace the old one, the light for drum doesn't go away, and we can't get the printer to work. Then corporate comes down on us because we are spending so much money on a new toner and drum every 2 weeks. But we had to buy the cheapest printer. I would not recommend this printer. Also, the plastic used to make the parts, is the kind that Creeks everytime you touch it. Really really cheap. Spend a few extra bucks on a better quality one. It will save you money in the long run.

5 out of 5 stars Great little home or small office B/W laser printer   July 21, 2010
Brian Hoyer (Kalamazoo, Michigan)
This is a great black and white laser printer for home or home office use. It is relatively small, quiet, fast and produces a nice looking printed page. I thought it was easy to set up, but I have done a couple of other wireless printers. And that is one of the nice features of this printer. Any where you have a power outlet is where you can place your printer. No network wires required. Maximum paper size is legal. Toner cartridges seem reasonably priced and I have read this printer goes 1500 pages per cartridge. I can't verify that because I haven't gone through a cartridge yet. Here is the best part...$89.99 including free shipping from Amazon. I received it in 3 or 4 days. I couldn't find a used laser printer for this price.

3 out of 5 stars A solid and cost-effective printer - with stupidly complicated wireless setup and deceptive low-toner sensor   July 20, 2010
Hercules Rockefeller (Chicago, IL United States)
This printer is fairy easy to set up and get going - if you don't deal with the wireless set up.
And the unit itself and laser printing is more cost effective than inkjets - if the goofy toner sensor doesn't prematurely indicate you're out of ink.
I'm not a technophobe, but it took me over an hour to set this printer up on my wireless network. The instructions were like 20 pages long. Really? I felt like I completed a Rubic's cube when I finally got it to print wirelessly. The same process with a Lexmark inkjet was idiot-proof and took 10 minutes.
More recently, the "toner" light indicated the printer was out of toner and refused to print. Again, really? I just bought it a few months ago and maybe printed 200 pages with it. An internet search showed me that the issue was likely caused by a sensor that (in effect) caused people to replace the toner cartridge before it was empty. There was even a [...] article by someone who went through the same experience. [...]
Anywho, by putting a small piece of electrical tape over the lens, the printer was fooled into thinking it had a fresh cartridge and has been printing fine.

5 out of 5 stars Great printer at a great price!   July 20, 2010

I bought this printer for a small construction office. It was easy to set up, and prints relatively quickly. The only complaint I would have is that it does not come with a usb plug, so unless you plan on using it as a wireless printer you must buy and additional piece to hardwire your printer in order for it to work.
