Great...for a year July 29, 2010 G. Kao (Arizona USA) The printer worked great. Loved the wireless capability, color output was great quality. Automatic document feedback works wonders when scanning multiple pages. This was a great printer. Unfortunately, after a year of light use, it died. The black ink no longer prints, even though I tried two different brand new cartridges. I did a search on the Internet, and it turns out this is a common problem. The print heads are off poor quality. After sometime of use, the print heads, especially the one for the black cartridge, quickly dies. Now, I can only print color pages with no black, which makes the printer essentially useless. I'll use it as a scanner for now, but only until I get a new MFP.
Never Quite Right July 27, 2010 Monty I agree w/ many of the reviewers that the machine is sleek, easy to set-up and use. However, in nine (9) months of ownership, I am always having trouble with it. I've spent hours speaking to Brother's support team to little or no avail. We can get it working for a week or month, then the wireless printing/scanning capability ceases to function.
When it works, it's great, but I need more reliability from a printer.
worst fax ever July 26, 2010 Mike I purchased this to use as my home office all in one. I had a lexmark that lasted a few years and was great but getting old, and with the price of ink it wasn't a big difference to get a new machine. Tried the compareable HP and it totally broke within 2weeks. The brothers has decent print quality, the ink lasts a regular amount of time. The big problem I have is faxing is a huge pain. If I put anymore than one page in it tries to pull them at the same time. I have to hold each page individually and feed them thru. I have to send regular faxes around 15 pages, this is a big problem. I'm going to take this one outside and bash it to pieces and go back to lexmark.
Regret purchase July 26, 2010 SR (Phoenix) I purchased this printer about a year ago and thought it was a good printer. I didn't care for the photo print quality but it worked good. Then suddenly for some reason it stopped printing from black. I tried cleaning the heads but that didn't even improve it. Changed the cartridges a few times. I figured that considering it'd take me a cab ride to/from a repair shop since I don't own a car along with repair fees it would come to the same amount that I paid for the printer which was $90. I ditched my Brother (which is the second one I've owned) and purchased a Canon printer which I am LOVING so far. It was at the recommendation of a few people. I will never purchase another Brother printer again.
Initially good, over time a failure July 24, 2010 AZ Dad (Tucson, AZ) Initially the printer was wonderful. Set up for wireless was simple. While I was still using the 1/2 filled ink cartridges that came with the printer the prints were awesome. When those ran out, I replaced them with new cartridges, the ones recommended by Brother, and the black stopped working. I tried cleaning it multiple times yet the black never worked correctly. This is definitely a throwaway printer. I will not buy a Brother again.
