Poor Paper Handling July 29, 2010 S. Summers (Burbank, CA USA) The printer is a poor choice for one reason, everytime it prints it feeds 3-5 pieces of paper. If the document being printed starts close to the top, part or all of the first 2 lines will be printed on one or two of the other pieces of paper pulled. This paper feed problem occurs whether good quality or cheap paper is used. I tried "fanning" the paper out before loading it in the tray--no help. Also the paper tray itself is poorly designed, and feels like very cheap plastic that could be easily broken. Because of the forementioned paper feed problem, you constantly have to pull the tray and fix the paper--or add more.
The rest of the printer seems quite good, would have gotten an excellent, but the paper feed problem is so severe I consider the entire machine junk.
Absolutely do NOT reccomend this printer.
It's an awesome printer! July 27, 2010 Frugal McDougal (binghamton, ny United States) I love this printer. It has a lot of awesome features. I always shop around before buying electronic products. I compare them, check reviews, look them up on CNET, etc... I was set on buying this one. I purchased it on Amazon from Electronics Expo for a cheaper price than anyone else was offering it. It arrived within 2 or 3 days of purchasing it. It was super easy to setup. The touch screen is a nice feature, as are the wireless capabilities. I have not had any problems with it so far. I know some other reviewers were complaining about paper jams, but I have used some really crappy paper in mine and have yet to have a problem. I have also used some rally good, quality photo paper and the pictures are amazing. There are several settings to choose from when printing pictures. The best quality takes longer, but the pictures are incredible. The lesser quality pictures are still very good. You can plug an SD card directly into the printer and bypass the computer altogether!! How great is that?! Also it has auto correction for the pictures. And you can see them on the printer screen when choosing your options. The coloring book feature is a lot of fun. There are too many amazing things to list. Some of the items I've printed came out faster than I have ever seen from a printer. The scanner works great. The copier works great. Again, too many features, so little time. Also I was messing around with some of the programs that came with the disc and they are awesome as well! I've made calendars and cards and hilarious pictures with them. I've printed out quite a few things and still have ink left. I was a little worried that it would go through ink quickly, but they have different types for the printer. I've yet to try the high yield version. Well, all in all my opinion is that this printer is superb, I love it, and I would recommend buying it. Of course that does depend on what you are looking for. But I think that this has it all. Also I would buy from Electronics Expo again. They were great.
printed document collection tray? July 26, 2010 EAB (Bay Area, CA) All the features are great, but I bought this printer with the assumption that I'd be able to easily print out a 100 page document.
What's the point of feeder document tray and quick printing speeds when the printed pages shoot out the printer into the air? Is there a way to get them to collect in an orderly fashion? Am I missing something?
Epson needs to test printers before they leave factory July 26, 2010 Leland W. Robinson The first Epson Artisan 810 I received would not feed papers properly from the front tray, but rather would jam every time. After talking with someone on the Epson help line, Epson sent me a replacement and a shipping label for returning the defective printer free of charge. The replacement arrived very promptly, and has been working perfectly for the last week.
I judge the output quality of this printer as excellent, both for print and especially for photos. I appreciate the photo tray for holding 4 X 6 and 5 X 7 photo paper, and the ability to print directly from my camera's memory card.
The print, copy, and scan functions all work as advertised. I haven't yet tried to send or receive a fax.
After my computer sends a print command there is a brief pause (longer than on my previous Dell all-in-one printer), but once printing commences it is fairly quick.
I agree with other reviewers that the plastic on this printer seems a bit flimsy, but hopefully it is stronger than it seems. Nothing has broken yet, but I've only had the printer for a week.
Overall I am pleased with the printer, and I don't regret my purchase. I just wish that Epson would test their printers before letting them leave the factory. It should not have been necessary for me to receive two printers in order to get one that works properly.
Great DVD printer July 17, 2010 Bill G (Dallas, TX) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
The main reason I purchased the Epson Artisan 810 was for the DVD/CD direct printing ability. This feature works great. It does take some getting used to the loading of the DVD into the printer. The tray is permanently attached to the printer, something my previous model Epson R220 did not have. At first I thought this would be a negative but actually is a integrated design feature to allow the printer to print the DVD more accurately.
This model Epson is designed differently than others that I have had in that the ink cartridges are stationary. The ink is fed to the print heads via tubes. This design lends itself to a Continuous Ink System. I had one on my last printer but have not purchased one for this model yet. Still looking for the best CIS.
The only complaint is that loading a DVD requires the display panel to be raised. It is hard to see what you are doing if the printer is located on a lower shelf of a desk. The DVD try does not extend more than an inch from the printer. The design takes some getting used to.
Print speed and quality are great. WiFi was easy to setup and use. I still mainly use the USB cable.
